It's BLM All The Way Down

So, here we are at mount stupid and climbing fast. This week in the news yet another BLM friendly statistic was publicized on the ITV London news that purported to  show five times more black women died during childbirth than the collective remainder of the population of the UK. The news feature was at least twenty minutes long and throughout relied  heavily on subjective opinion and, shall we say, very careful statements from professional NHS staff.

The women involved all had their own stories of what they thought was inappropriate treatment and failures of communication. This was anchored by the story of a young woman who died of a heart attack  after being discharged from Hospital. Her baby survived but suffered profound brain damage.

Regardless, these women deserve to be believed in as much as they experienced these events and I have no argument with that, however, I do question the perceived motivations and wonder just how much was layered onto those experiences by others with an agenda.

Given how things are going at the moment with race at the top of the agenda it is a worthy subject  but given the subject matter, one that should have been dealt with carefully and honestly.

During  the conversation the accusation of subconscious institutional racism reared its ugly head and although not explicitly stated one contributor would have said, if she hasn't checked herself, that Care should be organized along racial lines.

I don't think I need to explain further other than to point out that in my opinion this movement is being exploited for political purposes and will do nothing more constructive than to poison the wells of understanding between human beings..
